This song is about coming back home, meeting familiar places, well-known silence, a dog which stays the same. It's about a safe world left beside warriors, thanks to them. Maybe it's a good idea to listen to it on a train, while driving home.
Eugene Pluzhnyk wrote the poem a hundred years ago, when Ukraine, as a newly formed state, faced severe conditions of a long war and soviet occupation.
It has never been easy to live in Ukraine.
